Project 5

If people are happy living in a particular neighbourhood they usually want their next house to be close by - this one was built in their front garden, allowing them to move next door and sell off their existing home.

This image shows the underfloor heating being installed on the first floor.
By successfully combining long plastic flexible hose with copper tubing you get the minimum of joints and a slim professional fit to the chosen sanitaryware.
The Villovent, a heating and ventilating power pack is stowed in the loft and the lagged aluminium flexible hoses go to all the rooms of the house. Air is continually filtered, circulated and heated where appropriate.

The finished house will have a brick outer, cavity, weatherproofing, boarding, Kingspan, Rockwool and sealed with polythene before plaster boarding giving excellent insulation.
The rear atrim of the house is taking shape with the bricks blending well with the window frames and roof tiles.
6 bricklaying staff daily have ensured that continuity and quality have been maintained.
The bricks being laid are made locally by Bovington and have to be continually sorted to get the overall colour mix correct.
Lib, our carpenter is adding the soffits and barge boards to the Dormers and the underside of the roof.
The house has 7 Dormer windows and this image shows how the tiling and carpentry come together.
All the roof has been sarked and battens attached over the weatherproofing to allow the tiles to be fixed.
Inside, the lounge’s vaulted ceiling is having it’s first stage of insulation fitted before the rockwool and polythene is added and the ceiling sealed with plasterboard.
This elevation shows the variety of the design to catch the maximum sun and allow excellent internal visibility from the lounge and breakfast room to the rear garden.
There are 5 dormers in total all requiring intricate carpentry and tiling.
Now that the roof is on the inside work of battening the ceiling and building the internal walls can begin.
Day 5 and now the imposing, double frontage and central porch is taking shape.
Day 4 and now the ground floor is complete, ready for the 1st floor side sections to be added.
The house is taking shape as the waterproofed, insulated sections are fixed to the floor and each other.
In some builds there is a requirement to use steel beams and these are being lowered into place to support the 1st floor.
This image shows the sole plate being fixed to the block and beam floor ready to receive the side sections. The height gained will be for the installation of the insulation, the u/floor heating and the floor screed.
