Project 2

This project was to build a 4 bedroomed home on 3 levels and clad in cedar in Buckinghamshire.

It has a semi basement with 2 bedrooms for the boys in the family together with a fully equiped bathroom.
The challenge for us was that it is close to a small river just off the Thames and the basement is below the water table.

The front of the house boosts the high lofted ceiling of the living room whilst retaining excellent natural light to the 2 basement bedrooms. The entrance is to the right of this picture below.
The property is nearing completion and the scaffolding has now been removed to reveal the true colour of the cedar.
Once the shell is erected the windows are fitted and this picture shows the height of the semi basement windows below the raised living room floor whose windows extend to a vaulted ceiling.
With the basement constructed and all the other foundations in place the kit can now be delivered and onloaded directto the prepared base.
2 weeks after excavations began the basement is taking shape before the Christmas break.
Foundations for the remainder of the house have been successfully poured.
So far so good, no flood water discovered in the proposed basement.
Excavations have begun and we estimate to remove 20 lorry loads of 20 tons each.
Clearing the site that has lain dormant for 3 years and is in a tree preservation area.
